Now here's something you don't see everyday: a politician who actually wants to lower your taxes and actually voted to do so.
There's one little problem though. Waco Mayor Malcolm Duncan was out-voted 5-1.
The headline in the Trib was "Waco holds tax rate steady, over Mayor Duncan's opposition."
It's understandable if you glanced at that and just thought it was another politician who wanted to raise your taxes. But no - he wanted to lower them!
“I think if we’re going to be successful at our attempts to curb poverty and provide a better quality of life, we have to be competitive with other communities. It’s not going to be the government that creates the jobs that alleviate poverty.”
Let's hope he keeps at it and gets the others on the Waco City Council to come around.
