See this post here for some background. Short version: McLennan County Sheriff McNamara said during the campaign he wanted blood draws for DUI suspects to happen at the jail. Once a warrant is approved to take blood for DUI suspects that have refused tests, officers then have to take the suspect from the jail to the hospital to get the blood and then back to the jail. That takes up valuable officer time. I know - I went on a ride along with the Waco PD and saw this first had. Up to an hour and a half was wasted in transportation and testing alone.
This morning, Sheriff McNamara addressed why this simple change had not yet been made. "And I do hope that he [jail doctor] is listening this morning...I'm not happy about it."
